The Work We Do That Is Not Domestic

Conference rooms, science labs, breakrooms, large halls and arena-scale glazing. Commercial jobs turn on two things that rarely matter in a house: matching a long run of windows exactly, and specifying for a task rather than a taste. A meeting room needs the glare off its screens, a lab needs blackout on demand, and a refrigerated aisle needs to hold its cold, and each of those is a different product.

We make custom drapery and curtain track for home, industry and medical facilities. In a clinical setting that usually means ceiling-mounted track shaped to a cubicle or treatment-room layout, with curves and corners, rather than the straight runs stock hardware assumes. The curtains run on it and come down for laundering.

What Commercial Window Treatments Cost, And What Moves The Number

We quote after a site visit, because commercial specification varies far more than domestic and access decides a lot of it. What moves the number:

• How many openings, and whether they must match exactly
• The product, from a simple roller to a large-format motorized system
• Motorization, and whether runs are grouped or controlled individually
• Access, since high or awkward glazing changes the install and may need a lift
• For medical track, the shape and length of the run and the number of curtains

The difference between a commercial job and a house is rarely the product. It is that the building is in use. Schools have terms, clinics have patients, and shops have opening hours. Measuring, ordering and installing all have to fit around that, and it is worth raising at the first visit rather than discovering later.

• Can the shades on a whole wall move together?

  Yes. Motorized shades can be grouped so one control moves the whole run, or set on a schedule, which on a west-facing wall of screens means the glare is handled before anyone notices it.

• Is commercial work covered by the lifetime warranty?
